This course, Ministering for Sexual Health, will help you become more effective in helping others heal sexual issues by examining key beliefs about sexuality, using a formula for sexual intimacy, unpacking church myths, and remedying common issues that men and women face.
As a pastor or ministry leader, you may support married couples experiencing a variety of issues related to sex. But you may feel unequipped to offer meaningful support that adequately addresses the spiritual, emotional, and physical sides of sexual health in marriage. This course, Ministering for Sexual Health, will help you become more effective in helping others heal sexual issues, starting with becoming comfortable with your sexual history, beliefs, and development. You’ll find a framework for helping couples navigate complex sexual challenges and pursue health in their marriage. Join experts Dr. David C. Wang, Dr. Clifford Penner, and Joyce Penner as they guide you through key beliefs about sexuality, a formula for sexual intimacy, qualities of a healthy sexual life, unpacking church myths, and common issues that men and women face. By the end of this course, you will have the tools you need to be comfortable, conversant, and confident to promote sexual health in your life and ministry.
Learning Outcomes:
Please Note: We recognize that there are a variety of views on sex and sexuality, and while those are important topics to study, this course is not designed to be an exploration into the various views on Christian sexual ethics. But rather, this course is designed to help ministry leaders support married couples with issues related to sex.
We recommend that you invite your spouse to take this course together with you, if applicable. We've found that it is ideal for couples to engage with this information together rather than individually, but it is not a requirement. We also want to say that this course is for you regardless of your marital status. Whether single or married, all ministry leaders can effectively support the community God has called them to serve. While this course has marriages in mind for the context of where sex occurs, we do not wish to fuel any stigma towards singles or their sexuality.
This is a part of the Certificate of Emotional Health in Ministry.
